Is this a nonpartisan campaign training program?
Yes, CCL is nonpartisan; our faculty provide expertise from a broad
political spectrum.
Do I need to have campaign or public service experience?
We strongly encourage participants to have some educational or work
experience in campaigns, government or public service before attending
our training seminars. All applications are evaluated and accepted or
denied based on these criteria.
What is the schedule for the campaign training like?
The two-day seminar has a rigorous schedule. In order to fully
benefit from the intensive program, we require a significant time-commitment
from all our attendees. Once you have been accepted into the training,
you are obligated to attend both days.
Am I required to attend both days of the campaign training?
Yes, in order to obtain the best overall campaign training experience
and to benefit from the seminar activities, which include lecture,
Q&A and hands-on group work, a time-commitment of the full two days
is mandatory. You will only receive the Certificate of Completion at
the end of the second day of training.
How many people attend the campaign trainings?
The attendance at the trainings ranges from 100-130 per seminar,
and the information is presented to participants in both a large group
as well as in smaller groups.
Is registration for trainings first-come first-serve?
No, complete applications and resumes are evaluated based on education
and/or work experience in campaigns, government or public service. All
applicants will receive an email letting them know their status. If
there is space, we may accept on-site registrants in order of arrival.
Do I have to submit a resume or curriculum vitae with my application?
Yes, we request a resume or CV in order to gauge our participants
levels of campaign
experience.
Can high school students attend?
Due to the advanced nature of the curriculum and the intense time
commitment required of the participants we will not accept high school
students.
What are the methods for payment?
CCL accepts cash, checks, or credit card (Visa or MasterCard) for
the $40 materials fee. Make checks payable to “UC Regents.”
When is the last day to register for trainings by email, mail,
fax?
Check the dates in the Registration section for each training’s
registration deadline.
Do you offer scholarships?
The registration fee of $395 has been underwritten by Pew Charitable
Trusts, and therefore, has been waived. We don not offer scholarships
for materials and all attendees will be expected to pay the $40 materials
fee.
Can I pay on site?
Yes. Bring checkbook, cash or credit card (Visa/MasterCard). However,
we do encourage you to pay before arriving the morning of the seminar
to ensure your space is reserved. Make checks payable to “UC Regents.”
Can I register on site?
If space is still available, we will accept registration on a first-come
first-serve basis. Please check the web site or call us at 510.642.8320
to see if registration is still open.
Can I bring a friend or co-worker?
Yes. You are required to submit separate application forms, though
payment may be collective.
What is the dress code?
We recommend business casual attire for both days, as well as bringing
a light sweater or jacket, since the venues are air-conditioned.
